What is Nouns Soccer?

Nouns Soccer is proper eleven-a-side football played by the Nouns. Teams keep their shape, press, mark and make runs; you pass, run in behind, cross and shoot from a broadcast camera in the Noggle Stadium, with fouls, yellow and red cards, offside, free kicks, corners, throw-ins and penalties.

All of it works with three buttons. PASS, SHOOT and SPRINT change their job when the other team has the ball: PASS switches player or closes down, SHOOT tackles or slides in. Swipes add through balls, crosses, chips and low drives, so it plays as well on a phone held sideways as on a keyboard or controller.

Every Noun is a different player. Each has its own stats and traits, so a Rapid Noun burns past full-backs, Rocket boots shoot from range, a Brick wall wins the ball and a Magician dribbles through. Some are Snoozy or Clumsy too. Eight clubs each have their own kit, formation and bench.

Away from friendlies there is the Noggle Cup (knock-outs, settled by a shootout if it is level), the Noggle League (everyone plays everyone) and Master Club. In Master Club you start with a squad of rookie Nouns, earn Noggle Points from results and spend them on the transfer market. Players who play get better.

Features

Real football rules

Fouls, yellow and red cards, offside, free kicks with a wall, corners, throw-ins, penalties, and shootouts in the cup.

Three-button controls

PASS, SHOOT and SPRINT do everything, and change their job when you defend. Swipe up for a through ball or a chip, down for a cross or a low drive.

Skills and one-twos

Double tap PASS for a one-two, yank the stick back for a drag-back, or push it hard to the side at a sprint for a step-over.

Every Noun is different

Each Noun has its own stats and traits, from Rapid and Rocket boots to Maestro, Safe hands and Head tennis, plus a few Snoozy, Clumsy and Slowcoach ones. See them all on the Squads screen.

Tactics and subs

Change formation, back line, pressing and width from the pause menu, pick a game plan (park the bus, balanced or all-out attack), and make substitutions from the bench.

5-a-side Rooftop Cage

Walls all round to play the ball off, no offside and no throw-ins, on a rooftop above the city.

A ground for every club

Noggle Stadium, the Pixel Pit, Voxel Park, Harbour Ground by the sea, Yeti Peak under the mountains, the Neon Dome, the Pickle Jar and Crown Arena by the castle: each with its own seats, roof, mowing pattern and card display, and a pair of noggles mown into the centre circle.

A crowd that joins in

Mexican waves, noggles beach balls batted round the stands, camera flashes, giant inflatable Noun heads in the corners, ticker tape at kick-off, and smoke in your colours when you score.

Five camera angles

Dynamic (it swings toward goal and goes behind the taker at set pieces), Broadcast, Close, Wide and Behind your team. Press C, or pick one in the pause menu.

Weather

Sun, sunset, night under the floodlights, rain that skids the ball, and snow that holds it up.

Noggle Cup and League

Pick a club and win the cup from the quarter-finals, or play a full league season with a table.

Master Club

Build your own club from rookie Nouns: earn Noggle Points, sign Nouns from the transfer market, swap your eleven and watch players grow over seasons.

Training

Free kick and penalty drills: ten free kicks over a wall, or ten penalties, against a keeper.

Play a friend online

Make a room and share the code or link: your friend joins straight from the browser, with no account and no app.

Commentary, crowd and music

A commentator who calls the Nouns by name, a crowd that sings and groans, replays of every goal, and its own songs for the walk-out, half time and full time.
