What is Nouns Dance Party?

Nouns Dance Party is a rhythm game for kids and families. Move cards slide along the track toward a ring in time with the music, and you make the move just as each card reaches the ring. There are only four moves, so anyone can join in: raise your left hand, raise your right hand, both hands up for a hooray, and clap.

Your Noun dances whatever you do on a light-up disco floor, under a giant Noggles sign and a spinning disco ball. Two backup Nouns dance the routine right on the beat, so you can watch and copy them, and a crowd of Nouns grooves along at the back.

On a computer with a webcam you can dance with your real hands: hand tracking (MediaPipe, running in your browser) sees when you raise a hand or clap. The video never leaves your device.

Features

Four simple moves

Left hand, right hand, hooray and clap: easy to learn, and the routines repeat in 4-bar phrases like a real dance, so you learn them as you go.

Dance with your hands

Turn on the camera and raise your hands for real. A little mirror in the corner shows the hands the game can see, with a line to raise them above.

Copy the backup Nouns

Two backup Nouns dance every move right on the beat, so even little dancers who cannot read the cards yet can follow along.

Party Time

Dance well to fill the Party meter. When it is full the floor goes rainbow, confetti flies and your points double for 16 beats.

Holds

Cards with a long tail are holds: keep the pose until the tail ends for bonus points.

Stars and dancers

Every song and level gives up to 5 stars and a grade from D to S. Stars unlock more Noun dancers, from RGB and Moonbow to Cordless Phone.

Fair timing

A tap test sets your timing to your speakers or headphones, and the camera gets a wider window because arms are slower than fingers.

Calm lights

Turn on Calm lights for a gentler floor with no flashing.

How to play

  1. Press Dance and pick a song and a level.
  2. Watch the cards slide toward the ring at the left of the track.
  3. Make the move just as a card reaches the ring: the closer to the beat, the better.
  4. Keep holds held until their tail ends.
  5. Fill the Party meter for Party Time, and finish for your stars and grade.
