What is Nouns Boom Island?

Nouns Boom Island is a turn-based artillery game. Two to four teams of Nouns share one island, and each team moves one Noun per go: walk, jump or backflip into position, pick a weapon from the backpack, aim, hold FIRE for power and let go. After a shot you get three seconds to run.

Every blast digs a round hole in the island and leaves a scorched rim, and throws Nouns about. Each Noun has 100 HP, long falls hurt, and the sea is an instant KO. The last team with a Noun standing wins. A knocked-out Noun bursts into its voxels, like a KO in Nouns Brawl, and leaves a little pair of noggles behind.

The game is played side-on, but it is drawn in 3D with the Noggles models: the Nouns are the Brawl fighters holding Squad Blast toy blasters, and the islands are dressed with trees, animals, lollipops, city streets and dinosaurs from Nouns City, Nouns Park and the Brawl stages.

Features

A destructible island

Every blast carves the ground. Dig tunnels, knock ledges away, and watch trees and props topple into the craters.

25 silly weapons

A Flame Blower that burns through walls, rockets that ride the wind, bouncy bombs, a pineapple that pops into five more, a Homing Noggle, a Paper Plane you steer, a super-bouncy Noggle Ball, a home-run Noggle Bonk and a Waddle Duck that walks off on its own.

Big, funny blasts

A Cow Stampede (MOOO!), a Pie Shower that carpets the ground in custard, a giant rubber duck dropped from the sky, a Stinky Cheese cloud that hurts for three turns, a Firework Fountain and a Mega Sneeze that blows everyone away. Nouns shout silly things when they get hit.

Island hazards

Every island has its own: cola cans that blow up when hit, slippery ice, jelly trampolines, lightning strikes or a volcano raining lava rocks. Set gravity to Floaty or Heavy and the wind to Calm or Gusty.

Clever moves

Teleport across the map, fly with the Jet Pack, or build a Plank Bridge over a gap.

Wind and crates

The wind changes every go. Crates parachute in: health crates and weapon crates, which pop if a blast hits them.

Whoopee Cushions

Pink cushions hide about every island. Walk up to one and its light starts blinking: a second later it goes PFFFT! and blows a hole in the ground.

Star Noun

The results name the Noun who did the most damage and the most knock-outs.

Sudden Death

After a few rounds the sea starts rising every turn, so nobody can hide for ever.

Computer teams

Bots that work out real shots through the wind on Easy, Normal or Hard.

Pass and play

Up to four players on one phone, tablet or computer.

Play online

Quick Match finds other players waiting in a lobby, or make a room and share its 5-letter code with friends. Up to four players, each on their own device.

Rejoin

If your connection drops, the computer plays your team until you tap Rejoin and pick up where you left off.

Emoji reactions

No chat, just eight emoji reactions that pop up over your Noun for everyone to see.

Aim helper

An optional dotted arc for younger players.

Phone ready

Big buttons for walking, aiming, jumping and firing, drag from your Noun to aim, pinch to zoom, and a sideways view on phones held upright.
