Strong black coffee over ice with a squeeze of lemon and sugar, said to be the world's first iced coffee. Weirdly wonderful!

Ingredients

250 ml freshly brewed strong black coffee
3 tsp sugar, or to taste
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 handfuls ice cubes
2 slices lemon slices (optional)

Method

Brew the coffee and stir in the sugar while it is hot so it dissolves. Let it cool for 5 min.
Fill two tall, narrow glasses with ice.
Pour the coffee over the ice, add the lemon juice and stir. Taste, add more sugar or lemon if you like, and finish with a lemon slice.

Tips

For a layered look, put sugar syrup in the glass first, then lemon water, then ice and coffee poured slowly over the back of a spoon.
Contains caffeine.
