Ingredients

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan, 350°F) and line a 20 cm square tin with baking paper.
  2. Whisk the warm melted butter with the brown sugar until glossy, then whisk in the egg and vanilla for 1 minute until slightly thickened.
  3. Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt until just combined, then stir in the chocolate chips and most of the nuts. Spread in the tin and scatter the rest of the nuts on top.
  4. Bake for 22–25 min until golden, set at the edges and only just firm in the middle; a skewer should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Cool completely in the tin (they firm up as they cool), then lift out and cut into 16 squares.
